There is an information overload today. To manage information in a way that corresponds to the needs of citizens in a democracy, it is important to have a frame of reference, a window of perception, a world view. Ideally, such a perception will be benevolent to others as much as reasonable, ideally even compassionate. The Priorities Institute uses what could be referred to as an holistic index. Simply put, we look at life organically, from birth to death, and from the individual outwards to the family, neighborhood, region, nation & world.
